28th December 2008 - The Volleyball Association of Singapore (VAS) and Ministry of Education (MOE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which allows the VAS to take up top school players under its wing to form the spine of the national youth development teams.

Mr Baey Yam Keng, VAS president also Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC says that this ideal collaboration will set the foundations for the Asian Youth Games (AYG) next year, which features beach volleyball and the Youth Olympics Games (YOG) in 2010 both will be held in Singapore.

The national youth development teams will consist of up to 20 players per gender for indoor volleyball and 5 members per gender for beach volleyball.
